AI often enters a business in pieces.
Someone starts using ChatGPT. Another employee gets Copilot. A department tests automation. Software the organization already pays for suddenly has AI features.
Soon there are several experiments but no shared answer to a simple question:
What are we trying to improve?
A useful operating plan connects AI to actual workflows, information, people, ownership, risk and measurable outcomes.
It should also identify what can wait.
That matters because buying another tool is easy. Changing how work happens is harder.
